Brother Huey P. Newton was the co-founder of the Black Panther Party for Self-Defense (along with Bobby Seale).
Heavily influenced by the work of Malcolm X, they took the social mobilization around Black Nationalism and advanced it into a revolutionary Black communist party in the United States.
They became a force throughout the country and became targets of the FBI who called the Panthers "the greatest threat to the internal security of the country".
The FBI's COINTELPRO operation would eventually bring deathblows to the organization; subjecting them to illegal surveillance, infiltration, harassment, arrests, and the assassinations of multiple BPP members.
Huey P. Newton's longstanding impact on future leaders and revolutionaries is unquestionable. And although his life was cut short in the summer of 1989, his spirit and legacy live on forever!
